Board of Trustees

The Board of Trustees holds a fiduciary responsibility to ensure the sustainability of the school and the fulfillment of its mission. Responsibilities include:

  • Strategic planning
  • Developing policies that guide the Teachers' Cooperative in running the school
  • Approval of annual budgets
  • Hiring and evaluating the teacher-administrators

The board meets at least five times a year to consider, discuss, and build consensus for decisions. Much of its work is accomplished by committees and task forces, which present proposals for consideration.

All full-time teachers including the teacher-administrators, some administrative staff members, the co-founders of the school, parents, and alumni sit on the board. Like the teachers' cooperative, the board works on a collective leadership model and is led by a Steering Committee.

Members are recruited to ensure a diversity of experiences, perspectives, and skills.
